This garden is located in the Hudson Valley of Up State New York it surrounds a 115 year old barn. The curved ornamental garden beds surrounded by lawn were planted out with a mixture of flowers and shrubs to attract bee, birds and butterflies. We wanted there to be many flowering plants which can be picked and also give colour to the garden. We used a variety of flowering perennials such as Rudibeckia, Day Lilies, a few different varieties of Monardia (Bee balm), a mixture of some Agastache cvs, Wormwood, Veronica, Roses, Salvias, Ornamental grasses. Then to give some evergreen structure we used a dwarf Thuja orientalis and a grey leaved ground cover Juniper. These were really to add interest in the cooler months when things die down as well as when the snow hits. The curved bed echoes the shape of the curved slate patio area. The charcoal coloured blocks used in the wall reflects the colour of the slate.
