My Top Picks For Autumn Trees

I love when the rays of the sun hit an Autumn foliage tree just at the right angle so that the tree’s canopy looks like it is glowing. Paying attention to your deciduous trees locally through Autumn  should help you make decisions when it comes to selecting any Autumn foliage trees for your garden.  This can be especially helpful if you are buying bare rooted trees in winter as they are always just a trunk with roots attached.  Often they only have a written label tied around them too so you can’t even see what the canopy looks like.  If you are about to do some tree plantings here are a  few of my favourite Autumn Foliage trees for this region are;

-Chinese Pistacia – Pistachio chinensis – Broad domed tree that can reach 8m high  x 6m wide

-Maidenhair Tree – Gingko biloba – has a narrow upright form that can reach 12 m high x 5 m wide

-Claret Ash – Fraxinus “Raywood” – A rounded oval shaped canopy that can reach 12 m high x 7 m wide

-Sweet Gum – Liquidamber Styraciflua– A trinagular form that can reach 20 m high x 6 m wide

-Capital Pears – Pyrus “Capital” – A column like form that can reach 8 m high x 4 m wide
