Mirabilis jalapa ( Marvel of Peru)
A native of Central America this is the first time I've seen this plant. I have just checked and it does have weedy tendencies due to its ability to self seed however gosh its bright and beautiful.
Where this particular plant is growing it is surrounded by pathways and we have never found it popping up in neighbouring garden beds or paddocks. Its always good to aware of these things. It also has rhizomes which can be transplanted
It will reach approximately a metre in height. Each plant will produce a mixture of pink, red, yellow and bicolor flowers.
It is thought that the Aztecs cultivated these plants for medicinal reasons.

What are the ten most common mistakes home gardeners make when creating their gardens?
No master plan
Creating a master plan or at least a rough mud map of the garden is ideal before you start randomly planting out your garden. If you’re not a person who likes to draw, then even writing a list out describing how you imagine each area will be laid out is a good place to start. By undertaking this process, it means you have had to put some thought into each area of the garden and what their purpose will be. Each section should be able to stand on its own however there should also be a connection between each area so that they all work together. With no master plan or list, you can get caught out with having to back track in the future and ultimately cost you more money as your plans or thoughts may change

Rain really is the reward that every garden deserv

Rain really is the reward that every garden deserves. Gardening through a drought is not fun for anyone. Its heart breaking, soul destroying and just plain sad. Feeling grateful we have had another of rain. The plants ( and the weeds) will respone with lots of growth. The amount of growth that comes from any amount of rain is quite amazing. You can have your irrigation system or sprinklers working on your garden everyday yet the same amount of rain will have a greater impact and give the plants so many more benefits.Here is why rain is better than tap water for your garden:🌿Nitrogen Boost: Rain can captures atmospheric nitrogen (nitrates) as it falls, delivering usable nutrient that makes plants greener and boosts their growth.🌿Cleaning or Washing Plants. Rainwater will wash dust and mineral build up off leaves, allowing them to breathe and photosynthesize better.The rain has definitely been so brilliant to see. All of the paddocks around the hilltops region are starting to green up which is just in time for farmers starting to sow.

These beautiful pink flowering Wind Flowers or Ane

These beautiful pink flowering Wind Flowers or Anemone japonicas are a welcome sight in the Autumn garden. I think their tight rounded flower buds that are covered in fine white fluffy hairs are almost as nice of a feature as the flowers. The Wind Flowers are available in white and also in double flowering forms. They require a protected cooler shady location or will tolerate morning sun. Their roots like an organic moist soil. They will die down through the warmer months and then send up their fresh leaves and flowers towards the end of autumn. Windflowers are called such because their delicate petals sway and rustle in the lightest breeze. The plant's slender stems cause the blossoms to tremble, sway, and shake in the wind. They will self seed in area that have suitable soils.
